The term Southern Taiwan (Chinese: 南台灣 or 台灣南部) is used to describe a region in the south of Taiwan. It usually includes Pingtung, Kaohsiung, and Tainan. Besides, Chiayi and Penghu islands are also often included. The region is sometimes defined as a larger area which composes half part of the Taiwan island.
